Other Experience
- Drama and Comedy writing experience, Film automobile driving experience, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology for the hell of it.
ROCK/DRUM SET DRUMMING: Mike has trained in drumming since about 2000, starting as a snare drummer and moving to drum set by the age of 13. He is extremely proficient in many popular genres of music, including rock, pop, funk, and blues.
CLASSICAL PERCUSSION: Mike has trained in classical percussion starting with snare drum since 2000. He was consistently a member of various wind ensembles from 2003-2011, and still maintains his skills in most marching band percussion, and orchestral percussion.
DJEMBE/HAND PERCUSSION: Mike has been playing djembe since 2003, and was self trained until 2008, when he attended Lafayette College and studied hand percussion and various international percussion instruments and styles under Dr. J. Larry Stockton. He is extremely proficient with djembe, bongoes, conga, cajón, taiko, frame drum, and many other instruments.
SINGING: Mike has been singing since high school, where he led in multiple musical theater productions and was a tenor in the Select Choir, his school's most prestigious a capella group. Through college and afterwards, Mike has focused on rock, jazz, and folk vocals. His voice has been likened to that of Adam Levine.
SKIING: Mike has been skiing since he was a baby, and he performed in slalom, and giant slalom alpine skiing with the Lafayette College Ski Team from 2008-2011. He still skis recreationally to keep his skills sharp.
SPANISH: Mike is fluent in Spanish and has been studying it since 2003. He still tutors students in Spanish as part of his day job.
FRENCH: Mike studied French from 2008-2011, and is proficient and conversational in French. His fluency in Spanish allowed him to advance through learning French more quickly through the time he was studying it.
HIKING: Mike was a Boy Scout as a child and has loved hiking and camping all his life. He has visited 16 different national parks and hikes as often as he can both locally in LA and around the country.
