Other Experience

MUSIC:

- RAPPER - I started writing rhymes at 14, and continue to write and record complex raps. Many of my cultural, political, and artistic influences stem from golden era 90's hip hop music.

- BEAT MAKER - At 16 I started sampling obscure vinyl and making beats. I can use virtually any beat machine or software. I produce for underground emcees, and share music regularly on multiple sites like Soundcloud. I own an MPC 3000, MPC Renaissance, Roland SP-303, and Ensoniq DP4 . I am also proficient in Pro Tools & Logic.

- TURNTABLIST/SCRATCH DJ - My love for underground hip hop was sparked when my cousin took me to record shops in the early 2000's, where I was exposed to mixtapes from Dj Qbert and Mix Master Mike. Every once in a while I still squeeze in scratch sessions to stay sharp. I own Technics TurnTables, a Vestax PMC05, and a NuMark PT01.

- SPOKEN WORD - I started writing and performing spoken word at 15. I once came in 2nd place in the Nuyorican Poetry Slam. I still perform at open mics every few months.

OUTDOORS/ATHLETICS: A short stint as a Cub Scout awakened my love of the outdoors, that remains one of my huge part of who I am today.

- HIKING - Most recently I hiked the Sunshine Coast, British Columbia. My favorite hikes are in the Pacific Northwest, among the lush deciduous rain forests. I also work out by tackling local SoCal trails every week.

- BACKPACKING - My Aunt took me through-hiking as a teenager, when I spent Summers at her home in Portland Oregon. I now go on backpacking camping trips every season.

- FISHING - My Grandfather taught me 3 things: how to play golf, how to play chess, and how to fish. I catch trout, catfish, and bass.

- GARDENING - My Grandmother and Great Grandparents are from Hawaii, and always maintained a tiny orchard of tropical fruit trees, and flowers like plumerias. Today, I have a gorgeous vegetable garden, loaded with tomatoes, squash, beans, kale, lettuce, figs, grapes, avocados, herbs, melons, and berries.

- CYCLING - My main source of cardio, and my favorite way of seeing the city. I've biked every corner of Los Angeles, from the West Side, to the East Side, to the top of the Valley, to Pomona and the Inland Empire. My Trek 7.7 takes me 20-100 miles every week.

- BOXING - I've been boxing for 11 years. Nowadays I mostly do cardio boxing taught by Pro Boxer Terry Norris, and I still spar every once in a while.

- SWIMMING - The only thing I use the gym for is the pool. I love swimming, in pools, the ocean, or lakes.

- VOLLEY BALL - My favorite way of getting vitamin D, is spending Summer days playing beach volley ball.

- KAYAKING - I have kayaked in Puerto rico, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Hawaii.

- YOGA - For 4 years I was religious about my yoga practice. It is still something I practice weekly.

DIALECTS:

- SOUTHERN - My fiancé's family is from Arkansas, and we spend a lot of time with them. By the time the holiday visit is over, I sound like a Southerner. My Great Aunt also has a ranch in Kentucky, and I can embody her drawl on cue.

- NEW YORK - I'm a wannabe New Yorker. Washington Square Park and Brooklyn are my favorite places on Earth. A lifetime of listening to 90's hip hop, like Wu Tang, and rhyming in a style heavily influenced by NY's greats, I often go into a New York accent. I can do Wall Street sales shark, Jewish Shop Keeper, and Brooklyn Proper.

- SNOOTY CONNECTICUT - Kennedy's, Boat shoes, Hamptons, talking with teeth closed. Think, "old money New England."

- CHINESE/JAPANESE/KOREAN/TAGALOG - My Mother is Korean and Irish, and my father is Chinese and Scottish. My Chinese and Korean families taught me English with Chinese and Korean accents. I do NOT speak the language but I can emulate their dialect when speaking English

- STANDARD BRITISH - The British original version of "The Office" is one of my favorite shows. I somehow absorbed the characters ways of speaking.

- COCKNEY - I have seen and pretended to be every character in every Guy Ritchie movie.

- UK GRIME - The UK has a great hip hop scene, and I've spent hundreds of hours of rapping along to grime artists like Big Nartsie and Lady Leshurr.

- IRISH - My mother's family would and impersonate their older Irish relatives, and I learned these dialects by observing them.

- SPANISH - I am currently learning to speak and read Spanish. I was born and raised in predominately Mexican communities so taking on the dialect in English is a cinch.

- HAWAIIAN PIDGIN - My Korean family, the part that raised me, is from Kaneohe, Hawaii. They have thick pidgin accents, and I often asked them how a local would say things.

- CALI SLANG - I was born in the San Fernando Valley, and grew up in San Bernardino County, Orange County, and Los Angeles County. I've spent my entire adult life in LA.

SMOKING:

- CIGARETTES - I don't mind smoking and partake enough to not be a novice.

- CIGAR - I wish I had more time to spend at cigar lounges but I do collect cigars.

DRIVING SKILLS:

- ATV OFF ROADING - I ride ATV's every time I am in Arkansas, visiting family. I've been off roading all over the country.

- DRIVERS LICENSE - I have Class C Drivers License and have been driving over 15 years.

AMMUNITION:

- I am well versed with RIFLES - SHOTGUN - PISTOLS - I own a civil war rifle and go to the shooting range monthly.

- I shoot Bow and Arrows with friends all the time.

WRITER:

- EDITORIAL - My college major is Media for Social Justice, focusing on documentary. I have a decade of experience writing music reviews, doing interviews, and informative pieces for blogs, like beatjunkies.com.

- NARRATIVE - I studied TV and screenplay writing in college, and have 2 projects in production.

- SKETCH - My creative crew consists of Do Boy-All Def Digital, Kiya Roberts-50 Central (BET), Scott St. Patrick-Award winning performance artist, and Farelle Walker - Hell Date (BET). I have cowritten many online sketches with them.

MISCELLANEOUS SKILLS:

- CHEF - My Mom has been physically disabled my whole life, so I started cooking for myself at 10 years old. Decades of Food TV still inspires me. I often make dishes inspired from vegetables and herbs in my garden.

- SALES - As a means of providing for myself and pay my tuition, I worked sales jobs, and have much formal sales training.

- COLLEGE GRADUATE - I received an Associates Degree in Sociology, from Mount San Antonio College, and Bachelors in Media for Social Justice, at Woodbury University.

- PUBLIC SPEAKER - I attended multiple research conferences in college, and presented on subjects like human trafficking, and cutting edge solutions to social problems.

- DEBATE - While at Mount San Antonio College, I participated on the Forensics/Debate Team.

- VIDEOGRAPHY - I do freelance videography, using vintage film camera lenses. Most recently, I recorded and edited studio sessions with classical musicians Bob Bates and Michael Sample. I have also produced 4 short documentaries and I'm the videographer for ECCP (The Eamon Cannon Comedy Project).
